Geneva School of Boerne’s Logic School Math Club participated in the MATHCOUNTS competition at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio in mid-February. The competition is comprised of 4 rounds: Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown Round. The Sprint and Countdown Rounds focus on speed and accuracy and the Target and Team rounds focus on problem-solving skills both individually and then as a team. Altogether the rounds are designed to take about three hours to complete.
The Geneva Math Club began working with students in the fall to prepare for the competition. Seventh-grader Samuel McPhail qualified at the Bexar Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition to compete at the State Championship in Austin on March 18.
