Geneva plans to start school on Tuesday, September 8 with On-Campus Instruction for Grammar School (grades K-5) and Logic School (grades 6-8) with an On-Campus/Remote Instruction blend for students in Rhetoric School (grades 9-12). Fully Remote Instruction will begin on Tuesday, September 8 as well for those who choose that option. Ninety-four percent of Geneva families have chosen the On-Campus Instruction option.
The school leadership offered two options to families for instruction of their children for the 2020-2021 school year. Families chose either the On-Campus Instruction or the Remote Instruction option with 100% learning from home due to personal or family health situations.
Remote Instruction will be taken one quarter at a time and students choosing this option may participate in athletics. In addition, if a student starts On-Campus, he may choose to move to Remote Instruction at any point in the quarter, but may not return to On-Campus until the next quarter begins. This is different from an On-Campus student who is absent due to illness/quarantine.
“Our Reopening Task Force and I have been prayerful and diligent to prepare campus for the return of students, faculty and staff. The Board of Trustees has approved the plan that we are calling Phase I and we look forward to reopening our campus with all of the information we have to date. Our plan is to reevaluate during Week 4 of the school year. More specific information about that process will come out in a few weeks,” Geneva Interim Head of School Amy Metzger said.
