The Geneva boys and girls basketball teams hit the court January 12 with a dual purpose beyond the district standings battle. The teams passionately rallied together to support a noble cause by raising funds for the Heartland home through the event named “Hoops for Heartland.” The initiative aims to contribute to Heartland’s mission, which involves fostering, loving, and caring for medically fragile children facing challenges such as shaken baby syndrome, prenatal drug exposure, HIV and AIDS, as well as other diseases and disabilities.
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the players showcased their commitment not only to the game but also to making a positive impact off the court. The fundraising efforts underscored the teams’ dedication to making a difference in the lives of those medically fragile children under the care of Heartland, showcasing the power of sports to bring about meaningful change in local communities. The visiting team, Incarnate Word Academy, who traveled from Corpus Christi joined in the cause with additional donations and support!
