The Geneva School of Boerne Orchestra and Classical Guitar ensembles competed at the TAPPS Fine Arts State competition in Waco at the end of March against schools in divisions 1A-6A. The Geneva Strings Ensembles were named the TAPPS 2025 State Champions.

The competition was the second of a two-part contest that began with a Solo and Ensemble Contest in February at St. Mary’s University. At the second part of the competition, the Concert and Site Reading Contest, Classical Guitar’s Medium Ensemble earned a rating of 2 – Excellent. The Orchestra Medium Ensembles earned a rating of 1 – Superior for both of the school’s new ensembles of Cello Choir and Mariachi. The String Orchestra Large Ensemble earned Sweepstakes, the highest possible recognition for superior performances, in both the categories of Concert and Sight-reading by receiving a rating of 1 – Superior on Stage and a 1 – Superior in Sight Reading.

“These students have worked diligently all year to not only perform with the Orchestra but to add additional ensembles. To see them perform was incredibly rewarding for our entire program,” Orchestra instructor Sarah Gachupin said.
