Geneva eighth grade student Hayden Landis won the Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Essay Contest held at Geneva. Geneva eighth graders participate in this contest through their Civics class taught by Mrs. Stephanie Wilson each year.
Students wrote an essay titled “The Five Qualities of Good Citizenship” intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. Participating students are required to write an essay on the five points of citizenship: honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism.
Hayden’s essay won the Geneva contest and Kendall County DAR representative Mrs. Lane Zapotek awarded him a certificate and medal at a recent Geneva Logic School Assembly. Hayden is the son of Karen and Jon Landis of Boerne.
