What is the most influential book you have read besides the Bible? Why?
The Hiding Place was a very influential book in my life because it brought a deeper meaning and understanding of the Holocaust and the definition of suffering. The story showed me how to have gratitude and have a different outlook on life.
What is your favorite or funniest moment at Geneva?
One of the funniest moments at Geneva was on St. Crispin’s Day my freshman year. We were doing the annual pumpkin throw to see who could throw a small pumpkin the farthest. One of the boys launched their pumpkin and Mrs. Greenlees started backpedaling to see how far it went. There happened to be a hay bale right behind her that she tripped on and flipped over. After making sure she was ok, we all had a good laugh and it has become a great memory that we talk about often!
What will you miss most when you leave Geneva?
I will definitely miss all of the house activities and games! It is so unique and I love playing quidditch! It really helps you get to know the other grades and brings spirit and bonding to the Rhetoric School!
Who has influenced you most while at Geneva? How?
Mr. Vis and Mr. Naiser have been the most influential to me. Everyday I walked into choir or physics, they both greeted me with the biggest smiles and always loved to have fun during class. Both Mr. Vis and Mr. Naiser, always found a way to bring scripture into class, not only reading it, but showing how it applied to what we were learning! They taught me many life lessons that I will not forget.
What does being a Geneva student mean to you?
Being a Geneva student is truly a privilege. It means getting to go to a school that gives us a very good education and the bond between students and teachers is unlike anything I’ve seen at other schools.
How would you encourage a Geneva kindergartener to persevere in school?
Geneva really does prepare you for college very well so don’t take it for granted and truly make the most of your time here. Build relationships that will last and take advantage of every opportunity because everything Geneva offers is so much fun and is so worth it! Everything that you learn when you are young is useful when you are in middle and high school. Make good habits now!
What about Geneva do you hope never changes?
I hope Geneva never changes the house system! It is so special and unique. It is very fun to look forward to throughout grammar and middle school and participating in all the games is such a great experience!
