Geneva School of Boerne hosted its Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 25, at University Methodist Church in San Antonio. This class of 47 seniors is Geneva’s 14th graduating class.
The Class of 2024 had 19 students who are members of the Geneva Guild which recognizes those who began at Geneva in kindergarten and completed all 13 years at the school. The 2024 Geneva Guild members are Sebastian Boynton, Alexandria Bussey, Claire Coultress, Emily Coultress, Cammy Curtis, Alexandra Doran, K.P. FitzGerald, Shawn George, Philip Gordon, Sofia Griffey, Lillian Kaiser, Hailey Kirchner, Lindsay Lee, Constantine Malouf, Joshua Rabinowitz, Grand Roberson, Stephen Syamken, Jack Taylor and Kate Travis.
The Commencement Exercises began with a prelude of classical music. The processional, “At Long Last,” was played on bagpipes as the faculty and members of the Class of 2024 entered.
Interim Head of School Debbie Ledoux gave the welcome and Kelley FitzGerald, Geneva parent and Board member, offered the opening prayer. Valedictorian Will Muck and Salutatorian Jake Plesko each addressed the graduates personally in their speeches before the assembly sang the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
Geneva parent and former Board Member Scott Travis read 2 Corinthians 4:5-18, and Geneva teacher Lauren Stoner delivered the Commencement Speech titled “The Best Life Starts Now.” She encouraged students to trust, listen to and obey God because living with an eternal perspective is the best life.
After the graduates were conferred, the community sang the Alma Mater and the hymn “Non Nobis,” which is Latin for “Not unto us, O Lord, but to Your name give glory” from Psalm 115:1.
Rhetoric School Thesis Instructor Dr. Melissa Siller offered the closing prayer. The Faculty Choir sang “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” before the Commencement Exercises closed with a bagpipe recessional.
