The Geneva varsity cross country team competed in the TAPPS 5A Cross Country State Meet at the Midway ISD Course in Waco on Monday. The boys’ team finished in seventh place overall with junior Nicolas Siller crossing the line as the top Eagles finisher with a time of 16:28. This is the first time in Geneva history that every varsity boy athlete finished under 20 minutes in the 5K cross country race.
The Geneva girls’ team finished in fifth place overall. Sophomore Isabella Godoy was the top Eagles girls’ finisher in fifth place with a time of 12:25. Both Siller and Godoy earned All-State honors by finishing in the top 10 in their respective divisions. Siller also earned Academic All-State honors for his excellence in the sport as well as the classroom.
Additional athletes who competed for Geneva were A.J. Dube, Will Muck, Michael De Vries, Ford Elizondo, Alex Doran, Sam Doran, Mattie Sue Arnold and Hayle Heinen. Julie Olson coached the team this season.
