Geneva School of Boerne is proud to announce that three Geneva seniors earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
William Cone was named a National Merit Semifinalist and Thomas Rykert and Nathan Young were named as National Merit Commended Scholars. These students achieved this award for their academic accomplishment on the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
William is the son of Tiffany and Jason Cone, Thomas is the son of Gina and Scott Rykert and Nathan is the son of Cindy and Kevin Young, all of Boerne. These students are members of the 2019 Senior Class which will be the ninth class to graduate from Geneva. This is also the ninth consecutive Geneva School Senior Class to have members earning National Merit recognition.
Over 1.5 million students took the PSAT last October and entered the National Merit Programs, a nationwide competition for the recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Nationally, 16,000 students were named Semifinalists and 34,000 were named Commended Students.
From the 16,000 Semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the Finalist level, and will be notified of this designation in February. All National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected from this group of Finalists.
