School & Athlete of the Year Awards

Geneva School of Boerne was recently recognized by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) with two achievement awards. Geneva School was recognized as the top TAPPS 1A school in the state, winning the 2009-2010 Henderson Cup. And, junior Kendel Lipe was named as the TAPPS 1A Female Athlete of the Year. This is the school's second year to compete in TAPPS.

The Henderson Cup was earned through points accumulated from academic, athletic and fine arts competitions throughout the school year. Geneva earned the top spot with a total of 94 points. The runner-up, Wichita Falls Notre Dame, came in second with 53.5 points. The Geneva Eagles earned six TAPPS 1A state championships this year. Girls’ teams earned state championships in cross-country, basketball, tennis, golf and track and field. The Geneva boys’ golf team earned the state championship at the TAPPS 1A State Golf Tournament.

Kendel Lipe began the year as the co-captain of the varsity volleyball team and helped lead her team to the state final where she was named to the All-Tournament Team. She ran on the cross-country team in the fall and finished third at state and helped her team clinch the state championship. Kendel led the varsity girls basketball team to the state championship and she was selected to the basketball first team All-State for the second year in a row. She ended the year on the Geneva track and field team where she defended her title as state champion in the pole vault and added another individual state championship in the triple jump. She ran on the state championship winning 1600 meter relay team and helped her team earn the track and field state championship.
